Who we are

We are a Legal Tech startup based in Munich and Berlin. Our team combines extensive experience in the legal sector with expertise in state-of-the-art Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning.

What we do

We build a contract analysis tool for lawyers and other legal professionals who need to review contractual documents. Using state-of-the-art Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning algorithms, we are automatizing contract analysis. Our customers are able to save 40-60% of their time when reviewing either single or a large number of contracts. At the same time, the results contain less errors – our software won't get tired or distracted.

Dr. Sven von Alemann Chief Executive Officer

Sven is an experienced attorney and Legal Tech expert. Before co-founding rfrnz, he practiced IT law at McDermott Will & Emery, Fujitsu, and SAP Hybris. He obtained an LL.M. from the University of Christchurch, a doctorate from the University of Hanover, and an Executive MBA from the Technical University Munich.

Markus Demirci Chief Financial Officer

Markus founded his first technology company in 1997 and since then has been at the forefront of technology and e-commerce -- both as an entrepreneur and as a leader in some of the most innovative global consultancies and companies. As co-founder of rfrnz, Markus is committed to transforming and disrupting the Legal Tech market.

Dr. Adriaan Schakel Chief Data Scientist

Adriaan, originally a computational physicist, is an expert in Machine Learning applied to Natural Language Processing. Prior to co-founding rfrnz, Adriaan conducted research and taught at half a dozen universities worldwide. He obtained a doctorate from the University of Amsterdam, and a post-doctoral degree (Habilitation) form the Free University Berlin.
