Who we are

We are an award-winning Legal Tech company based in Munich and Berlin. Our team combines extensive experience in the legal sector with expertise in state-of-the-art Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning.

What we do

We build a contract analysis tool for lawyers and other legal professionals who need to review contractual documents. Using state-of-the-art Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning algorithms, our solution extracts key information, relevant clauses, or concepts from multiple contract types. The system is language-agnostic and can be used with pre-trained contract clauses or user-specific content.

Dr. Sven von Alemann Chief Executive Officer

Sven is an experienced attorney and Legal Tech expert. Before co-founding rfrnz, he practiced IT law at McDermott Will & Emery, Fujitsu, and SAP Hybris. He obtained an LL.M. from the University of Christchurch, a doctorate from the University of Hanover, and an Executive MBA from the Technical University Munich.

Moritz Biersack Chief Technology Officer

Moritz is an experienced full-stack developer and IT consultant. He has a degree in industrial engineering and has been working in the IT sector for 7+ years. Startups, medium-sized companies and international corporations are using his solutions, such as mobile, web or desktop applications.

Dr. Adriaan Schakel Chief Scientist

Adriaan, originally a theoretical and computational physicist, is an expert in machine learning applied to natural language processing. Prior to co-founding rfrnz, Adriaan conducted research and taught at half a dozen universities worldwide. He obtained a doctorate from the University of Amsterdam, and a post-doctoral degree (Habilitation) form the Free University Berlin.
